As part of their educational program and academic partnership with the Silk Road Business School, a group of IMSG students had the opportunity to go to the People’s Republic of China in early April 2019 for a week of historical and cultural discovery. On this occasion, students and teachers of the ESMK (School of Management of Kinshasa), member of the International Management School Group, had joined this “Study Tour”.
The 1st of April, 2019 marked the beginning of this tour with a visit to West Nanjing Road, considered China’s largest shopping street, and a visit to Yu Garden.
On the second day, students visited Ant Maker, China’s first online education incubator, followed by a walk through the streets of “Old Shanghai”. The day ended with a dinner at Pearl of the Orient, a television tower located in the Lujiazui business district, a symbol of Shanghainese culture. An unforgettable moment, with a breathtaking view of the Chinese economic capital…
On the third day, students from IMSG and ESMK tried to practice Kung Fu, a martial art that occupies a significant place in Chinese culture, in one of the many natural parks of Shanghai. A visit to the Jing’an Temple, a Buddhist temple located on Nanjing Road, took place in the afternoon, before leaving for Beijing on the Fuxing train, capable of reaching speeds of 350 km/h.
On the fourth day, our students had the chance to visit the Beijing Internet Financial Security Industrial Park, a highly protected and elitist ecosystem of companies specialized in the Fintech, followed by an excursion to the Great Wall, Chinese military fortification built between the 3rd century BC AD and the seventeenth century to mark and defend the northern border of China.
The fifth day began with a visit to the Tiannanmen Square, symbol of the new China, and the Forbidden City, an imperial palace built from the year 1406 which, after having been the residence of twenty-four emperors, ceased. to be the political center of China after the abdication of Puyi, last emperor of China, on February 12, 1912. Following this visit, the students of the group went to a popular district of Beijing to share a lunch with a family local, in order to immerse themselves in Hutong culture. The students then went to Xiushui Street for a shopping afternoon marked by a “learning-ground” of commercial negotiation…
On the sixth day, a visit to the Temple of Heaven, a monument considered the completion of traditional Chinese architecture, and the Capital Museum, were on the program, followed by the return train to Shanghai.
On the seventh day, the group went to Fudan University, one of the oldest and most selective universities in China, regularly ranked among the top 100 universities in the world, and then visited Chenghuang Miao (Temple of the God of the City). A cruise on the Huangpu River followed these two activities to end the day.
A complete program to discover, in one week, a country rich in history and culture. All IMSG team sincerely thanks the members of the Silk Road Business School who took part in the organization of this stay in the Middle Kingdom, which will no doubt remain in the memories of the school…
